The new bridge over the Collie River on the old Coast Road between Bunbury and Eaton was officially opened today by the Minister for Transport Simon O’Brien, and Federal Member Nola Marino.
The 121 metre bridge replaces a timber structure which had been in place for forty-eight years. The old bridge was known to cause regular traffic delays due to increasing maintenance requirements, which could no longer extend its life.
The new bridge is wider, and includes a dual use path for bicycles and pedestrians, and a fishing platform beneath.
