Work will start on construction of a new primary school at East Dalyellup in February 2012, Education Minister Liz Constable announced today.
Dr Constable said the $14.7million school would be built on a 3.5 hectare previous farm site at Crystal Bend.
“The construction of this new primary school – to be ready in time for the 2013 school year – will help ease pressure on Dalyellup College, which has experienced significant growth in student numbers,” she said.
“As the surrounding area is still being developed, it is expected that the new school will serve many young families into the future.
Dr Constable said the school would feature 12 general classrooms with interactive whiteboards; centrally-located library; early childhood block; dental therapy centre; and an education support classroom.
“It will also have music, art and craft rooms, cricket nets, hard courts, an oval and administration and staff areas,” she said.
“The new school will provide a fitting centrepiece for a growing community that will go on to produce generations of confident, well-rounded students.”
