The school holidays are to start with a bang in Bunbury this long weekend with the second Bunbury Kidsfest happening over three days. The Kidsfest features eight interactive zones housed in a fully enclosed, all-weather marquee village at the Bunbury recreation oval on Ocean Drive.
The brainchild of a City of Bunbury community think-tank, the first Kidsfest proved successful last year, and had the added benefit of encouraging tourists who were not dependent in licenced venues for their fun and entertainment.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the three-day event would offer a variety of workshops, shows and activities especially for children aged between two and 12.
“Children can enjoy sports, gardening workshops, interactive science exhibits, hands-on art and craft, a mining and construction zone as well as some farmyard animal fun.
“The festival will also see the singing and dancing sensations of Channel Ten’s Young Talent Time perform on stage, while organisers of Australian and French film festival, CinefestOZ, will screen short films just for kids.”
Dr Hames said the State Government was proud to support the Funtabulous Bunbury Kidsfest through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme, which was jointly funded through Royalties for Regions.
