A contract has been awarded to Bocol Constructions Pty Ltd to build a new bridge across the Blackwood at Jalbarragup, in Nannup Shire. The $4.3 million contract was announced yesterday by the Minister for Transport and Housing, Troy Buswell.
The project will be managed by Main Roads Western Australia – South West Region, and is expected to be completed by August 2011.
“The new bridge will be built to current standards, making it far safer for the public and in particular offering better access for emergency services to farmlets at Jalbarragup,” Mr Buswell said.
“It will provide an all-weather crossing, replacing the existing low-level crossing that regularly floods in winter.
“The existing bridge, which is sub-standard and in a state of disrepair, will be demolished.”
