Reprieve for Bunbury Panel Beaters

Bunbury panel beaters have been working under the shadow of a threatened severe downturn in work since promises were made to build a flyover to replace the Eelup roundabout.

They can breath easier following an announcement by the Director of Main Roads South West Operations Bret Belstead that the promise is still on hold.

Instead of committing to a permanent solution to the most prolific black spot on WA Roads, the department has decided to make some temporary changes to the way traffic approaches Bunbury.

Adding to Eelup roundabout’s reputation recently has been the traffic jams caused by work on the Preston River Bridge, which has caused delays for traffic approaching Bunbury, due to diversion through the Australind bypass.

Main Roads claim to have chosen the lesser of two evils in choosing to cause delays to inbound traffic. Delays to outbound traffic in their view would have caused greater traffic chaos to the town, with added risk to traffic safety.
