New School Marks Growth in Australind

In March 2012 the State Government recognised pressure of student numbers on Parkfield and Kingston Primary Schools with the announcement of a new school in the Treendale area. Work is now due to commence on the new school following today’s official sod-turning ceremony attended by Education Minister Peter Collier.

Designed by MCG Architects, the school will be built by Smith Constructions on a budget of $14 million. Education Minister Peter Collier said the new school would provide an important focal point for the expanding subdivision of Treendale, near Australind.

“The greater Bunbury region is growing at a rapid rate and the Government is committed to ensuring these communities have access to high quality schools,” Mr Collier said.

The inaugural principal will be appointed in mid-2013 and take responsibility for the establishment and operation of the new school. The school is expected to open in time for the 2014 school year with an estimated enrolment of about 200 students from kindergarten to year 6.
