Education Minister Peter Collier today officially opened the WA College of Agriculture – Harvey, following a $26.4million rebuild, the first since it opened in the 1950’s.
“These agricultural education facilities are unsurpassed across the country and are now all within walking distance for the college’s growing number of residential and day students.
“The college can now expand its suite of vocational offerings to students, including butchery skills, equestrian and aquaculture, making it a very attractive option for students throughout Western Australia.”
The new facilities include an administration block; medical centre; dining hall; kitchen; gymnasium; library; science and information technology laboratories; two classrooms; design and technology workshops; onsite commercial laundry; and butchering facility.
The Minister said the college’s rebuild also included eight residential dormitories accommodating more than 120 students.
“Integrating these facilities reduces the travel time for students and staff between the previous two sites and allows more time for students to enjoy better educational, social and physical outcomes,” he said.
